STOCK WORK

General Specification For Items Attached To The Butt Of A Stock

Prior to the installation of any device that is to be installed on the butt of a stock, all existing screw holes will be plugged with glued-in hardwood dowels, the center of the butt will be lowered to allow the pad to have 100% contact at its edges, the top or bottom of overly large openings in the stock butt will be filled with walnut half dowels and the open end-grain will be sealed with epoxy. Custom fitting for correct length of pull, drop at Monte Carlo and down pitch are recommended and are included in the following installations of all stock add-ons.

All add-ons to the stock's butt, after grinding, are hand fitted and wax sealed.

RECOIL PADS: Hrs. of Labor

2. Mount pad to plate, mark access hole for plate adjuster wrench, machine pad base & cut wrench access hole in pad face: .5 Hrs
3. Mount adjustable plate, mark, remove & cut to size: .25 Hrs
4. Mount plate on grinding fixture & grind to size: .5 Hrs
5. Mount recoil pad to plate & grind to finish: .25 Hrs
6. Hand-finish plate and pad & mount to stock: .25 Hrs
7. Labor total: 2.25 Hrs

Adjustable Combs

Adjustable combs are the least expensive method of correcting the butt stock's comb position, either up or down. Some shotgun stock designs do not have enough wood between the top of the comb and the draw bolt hole to allow the alterations necessary to convert a stock to an adjustable comb stock. In these cases, the original stock's comb will require lowering by wood removal and stock refinish. Raising a comb is a major project with many alternates solutions possible. Price on Application.

ADJUSTABLE COMB: Hrs. of Labor
1. Raise comb up to " or lower comb up to ": 2.5 Hrs
2. Lower comb by removing wood: 1.0 - 2.0 Hrs
3. Refinish butt stock to match original finish: 3.0 Hrs & up
4. Soft top comb, add: 1.25 Hrs
5. Extra comb to make a soft top, add: 2.5 Hrs

Stock Refinishing

STOCK REFINISHING: Hrs. of Labor
DOES NOT INCLUDE RECUTTING CHECKERING!
1. Basic varnish high or satin gloss finishes: 4.0 Hrs & up
2. Tung oil or linseed oil type finish (long delivery time due to drying): 6.0 Hrs & up
